Mexico as you saw it in paintings!

The colorful, colonial style of Coyoacan makes for an inspiring walk through a more leafy green suburb of Mexico City. Coyoacan’s chill atmosphere is perfect for a delicious churro while walking in the stone roads and taking in the beauty of the area.

Our experts will guide you through the enigmatic life of Frida Kahlo. Right now the house is close due the pandemic, but we’ll visit Frida’s favorite places so you can better  understand her life. We’ll also tour the local market of Coyoacan, which is perfect for a nice photo, and take in street art of artists from Mexico City and around the world! Finally, a relaxing stroll in Coyoacan’s main square will provide us the perfect ending to this unique day.

This private tour allows you to experience Coyoacan in the safety of a small group. Experience this must-see destination safely during the pandemic. Our guides wear masks and take all the necessary cautions for covid-19. We keep space between groups and attendees as much as possible.

Enjoy the exotic market and eat a famous and delicious tostada.

Why Coyoacán?

When the Spanish arrived in present-day Mexico City, they found the area covered in lakes. So, they chose a special place to settle: Coyoacán, or “place of the coyotes”. Today, you can savor this unusual borough with its quiet, cobblestone streets seemingly lost in time. On our tour, we will take in the important intellectual and artistic influences on the area, focusing especially on two important artists who called Coyoacán home: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Both iconic figures continue to influence modern Mexican culture. We’ll explore this as we stroll through Coyoacán’s colorful streets with its murals depicting ideas old and new. Finally, we’ll explore the area’s markets full of exotic fruits and even sample a delicious tostada from one of Mexico City’s most popular spots! Choose from more than 20 varieties, including vegetarian and vegan options.

How do you fit hundreds of years of history into 3 hours??? They did it! Kate A.

We did the "free" walking tour and it was one of the best tours we have been on. Great explanation of the rich history of this fascinating city. Many questions answered. We were the only 2 to show up so we skipped the church (services were being held) and visited some murals. Thank you so much! Would highly recommend this tour. Luis was easy to hang out with and talk to. We went back to eat at the recommended taco place. It was wonderful! . Well worth it.

Outstanding way to kick off our CDMX adventure. Kevin N.

Belen was fabulous, courteous and incredibly knowledgeable. as she walked our group through the Historic Center of México City. We’ve taken numerous to tours over the years, and I’d rate this as one of the best. Highly recommend.
